Encourage your child to learn the Spanish language in a total immerse and fun environment; mastering vocabulary every day by repetition, active motivation and hands on experience in a natural way. The kids will acquire vocabulary and practice the Spanish language. This camp is perfect for youngsters without any knowledge of Spanish, as well as for the advanced. The children will work in groups matching their age and level of Spanish. Each week camp is theme-based and filled with engaging activities ranging from arts and crafts to games, stories, songs, cooking, nature, music, puppet shows, local field trips, and more!

Summer Immersion Adventure Class (Vamos a la Playa).
In our Summer Immersion Adventure classes children immerse in a full Spanish language environment with hands-on activities that keep them motivated and curious to keep learning and practicing Spanish. Children explore vocabulary through an interactive theme-based project: “VAMOS A LA PLAYA”. Everyday is full of meaningful activities like gardening, art and crafts, puppets, music, dancing, numbers, counting, reading,writing, cooking, culture, and more. All levels are welcome! Activities are divided based on the children’s language proficiency and age.

Week 1: Multicultural Cooking
All campers are exposed to Spanish immersion activities by exploring Latin gastronomic recipes and preparing healthy meals. The children will be encouraged to practice Spanish while they are motivated preparing a daily yummy recipe using all their senses by seeing, touching, tasting, smelling and listening.

Week 2: Gardening and Nature
The Children will explore the magical world of nature with hands -on activities. They will furthermore, practice vocabulary, learn about flowers, vegetables, and the basic principles to tend to their gardens. The kids will be exposed to outdoor activities and visit our Garden of Dreams daily. Cleaning the Garden, planting new seed or even having a fun harvest will all be part of our exciting schedule.

Week 3: Exploring my City
Let your child learn, reinforce and practice Spanish by focusing on urban literacy and local culture regarding cool places that the city of Santa Monica has to offer. The kids get inspired by the architecture the weather of the city, by taking adventurous field trips on the metro or blue bus, exploring libraries, fire stations, beaches, farmers market and more. Let’s connect the language with real experiences for our campers.

Week 4: Latin Rhythm and Movement
Here, our campers are exposed to Spanish language acquisition by experiencing the joy of Latin rhythms and its diversity. The children will have fun practicing Spanish while wearing colorful costumes as well as repeating cool and interesting choreography related to the richness and flavor of the Latin music such as cumbia, Tango, Flamenco, salsa, chachacha and more.

Week 5: Art and Culture
Learn and practice Spanish getting messy by exploring different kind of artistic expression around the world. Children will have fun creating their own art project, learning about mixing colors, exploring some art history and discovering the beauty of classic art and its history.

Week 6: Storytelling and Puppets
The children keep expanding their vocabulary in Spanish at the same time as they are expressing their imagination in fun activities like puppets and stories. The kids will be able to create their own puppet. They will be able to interact with other friends creating cool dialogues and stories to dramatize with their own puppet. The youngster will explore and experience basic principles of puppeteers including marionettes, ventriloquism, and shadow puppets. The children will enjoy fun stories looking for amusing characters, adventurous places and creating their own ending of each story.
